Landslide

Open up, she said, look outside yourself
But my head is on the landslide
I can’t shake this feeling
Anxieties multiply and leave me reeling
A broken and lost warrior of sadness
I can’t see past my own shortsightedness

I keep leaving, misleading, reversing, repeating
Leaving, mistreating, losing faith, repeating
Repeating, repeating, repeating
Courageous action seeks courageous souls
But I can’t fight with no soul at all
I’m losing sight and I’m losing sleep
I’m buried deep in the secrets we keep.

Spread your wings, she said, find the wilderness
But I’m out in the cold and I’m still a mess
I can’t shake these lonely daydreams
Dead end trails, revolving on the same theme
A broken and lost warrior of sadness
I can’t see past my own shortsightedness.
